BE SMART — BE SAFE

May 24th, 2010

With a holiday weekend ahead of us, let’s all take the initiative to ensure that we do not knowingly let anyone drive under the influence of alcohol. Drunk driving accident are avoidable, and we should all work to keep them from happening. It may not be easy or comfortable to stop a friend or family member from driving after they have been drinking, but it will be far easier than having to deal with the consequences should they have an accident. Additionally, let friends and family members and especially young drivers know that they always have an option to call if they need a ride in order to avoid driving under the influence or riding with someone who has been drinking. BE SMART – BE SAFE, don’t drive drunk, and don’t let others drive drunk!

Have a great week, and be SAFE!

National Womens Health Week

May 10th, 2010

May 9th through May 15th is National Women’s Health Week.  National Women’s Health Week is a weeklong health observance coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health (OWH). This week is to help women make their health a top priority.

This year the theme “It’s Your Time,” We know that behavioral health issues are non discriminatory and affect all women equally, and as often as they impact men. According to the Office on Women’s Health it is important to celebrate National Women’s Health Week to remind women that taking care of themselves is essential to living longer, healthier, and happier lives. Women are often the caregivers for their spouses, children, and parents and forget to focus on their own health. But research shows that when women take care of themselves, the health of their family improves. To learn more go to www.womenshealth.gov/whw/

Have a great week!!
