    Medicaid Program

MedicaidMedicaid is a federal/state program that is administered at the state level. Medicaid plays a major role in Ohio’s community behavioral health system, accounting for nearly 35% of its total cost. The Ohio Department of Mental Health and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, through a sub-recipient relationship with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, administers a fee-for-service behavioral health Medicaid benefit. Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS), Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ADAS) and Community Mental Health (CMH) Boards cover 100% of the cost to provide behavioral health Medicaid services to Medicaid recipients and are reimbursed by the federal government for 60% of those cost. The 40% matching funds are covered by state and local sources.
