Senate BH Bills
SB 10 JUSTICE REINVESTMENT Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati) and Shirley Smith (D-Cleveland) – This bill makes several changes around sentencing, prison administration, judicial release, and defining criminal offenses. It is a reintroduction of SB 22 from the previous General Assembly and adds recommendations made by the Council of State Governments Justice Center (report available at http://justicereinvestment.org/states/ohio/pubmaps). SB 59 DRUG OFFENDERS TREATMENT Charleta Tavares (D-Columbus) –Expands drug treatment intervention for 1st and 2nd time offenders and makes an appropriation.
SB 69 DRUG TESTING Tim Schaffer (R- Lancaster) To establish a drug testing requirement for adults who apply for need-based programs that provide cash assistance, medical assistance, housing assistance, food assistance, or energy assistance.
SB 73 EXPANSION OF WHOLESALE BEER & LIQUOR PURCHASING Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) To allow manufacturers of nonbeverage food products to purchase at wholesale beer and intoxicating liquor from A and B liquor permit holders.
SB 127 Schiavoni – To require schools to expand and improve their anti-bullying policies, including a requirement to address cyberbullying (companion bill in the House is HB 155)
House of Representatives BH Bills:
HB 64 SYNTHETIC CANNABIONOID Rep. Ruhl (R-Mt. Vernon) and Rep. Burke (R-Marysville) and companion bill SB 57 sponsored by Senator Tavares (D-Columbus) –to add synthetic marijuana commonly known as K2 or Spice to the list of Schedule I controlled substances, prohibit the possession of Spice and prohibit trafficking in Spice.
HB_68 OHIO COUNCIL TO REFORM BEHAVIORAL HEALH CARE Rep. Burke (R-Marysville) – To create the Ohio Council to Reform Behavioral Health Care.
HB 71 –OHIO OFFICIAL PRESCRIPTION PROGRAM Rep. Luckie (D-Cleveland) – To create the Ohio Official Prescription Program and to require prescribers and pharmacists to obtain information from the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System.
HB 93 PILL MILLS Reps. Burke and Johnson – To establish and modify laws regarding the prevention of prescription drug abuse and development of information programs by the State Medical Board. HB 116 ANTI-BULLYING Rep. Barnes (D-Cleveland) To enact the School Day Security and Anti-Bullying Act to require age-appropriate instruction on and parental notification of public schools’ policies prohibiting harassment, intimidation, or bullying.
HB 155 Fedor and Garland – To require schools to expand and improve their anti-bullying policies, including a requirement to address cyberbullying (companion bill in the Senate is SB 127)
