ORW - Recovery is For Me Too
The Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW) in Marysville hosted its first-ever Celebrate Recovery Event this week in partnership with OACBHA, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS), and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) to highlight the transformative power of recovery within the institution and to demonstrate that treatment works, people do recover, and Recovery is Beautiful. The Recovery is Beautiful movement, created by OACBHA, serves as a reminder that mental illness and addiction are treatable chronic illnesses, and that recovery empowers individuals to become active, engaged members of their communities — bringing hope and encouragement to others. More than 700 incarcerated women gathered on ORW's large parade ground to hear powerful and moving stories of sobriety and recovery.
